KABUL, Afghanistan - Two U.S. soldiers have been killed in war-torn Afghanistan during an operation, an official statement said Friday.
"Two U.S. service members were killed while conducting an operation March 22," the NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in the statement issued on Friday."In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete," the statement said.
The mission gave no details of where, or how the soldiers died.
The two deaths take the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year to four.
While thre fighting continues, mainly involving Afghan forces and the Taliban, negotiations relating to a truce are going on in Doha between U.S. military officials and Taliban leaders.
