Business owners already finding it tough to fill jobs may have felt a bit more pain in April, when Metro Denver's unadjusted unemployment rate dropped to 2.1 percent, down from 3.3 percent one year ago.

The low unemployment rate can make it difficult for businesses to fill job openings, said Ryan Gedney, Colorado senior economist at the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.
